Abstract
AbstractIntensity variations for complexes of 3d‐ions in aqueous solution were studied in the temperature range from 2 to 93°C. The increases with temperature were generally much higher than for hexaquo ions in crystals. They can be represented by the equationmagnified image with E in the range of a few kcal/mol and a varying between 1 and 200. They can only be explained by transient distortions induced by collisions with solvent molecules. The effects of inner sphere complex formation and hydrolysis of hexaquo ions on intensity were found to be small in the concentration and pH ranges studied.
