Abstract
AbstractThe results of measurements of the ultrasonic absorption in liquids at frequencies up to 2.8 GHz are reported. In some liquids relaxations could be detected. Comparison between measured and calculated maximum of absorption shows that usually only part of the vibrational specific heat relaxes. This is in contrast to the observed behaviour of gases. So an additional mechanism of energy exchange between degrees of freedom must be supposed.
