Abstract

AbstractThe nutrition professional is increasingly providing care to individuals who identify as transgender. However, there are few definitive guidelines on providing medical nutrition care to this population. It is becoming better understood that this population is at elevated nutrition risk secondary to significant health disparities. More recently, the increasing prevalence of gender‐affirming medical intervention has resulted in uncertainty when providing medical nutrition assessments and therapies, as many standardized guidelines and assessment tools are sex‐specific. This review aims to provide clarity in exploring various gender‐affirming methods to providing nutrition care to the transgender and gender‐diverse population.
