Abstract

Unbalanced parasitic component parameters in a three‐phase inverter can cause unbalanced device losses. In this study, we focus on equalizing the device losses for an unbalanced three‐phase inverter and propose a novel two‐phase pulse‐width modulation (PWM) scheme. We evaluated the loss and temperature of an unbalanced three‐phase inverter driven by the proposed two‐phase PWM scheme using a variable switching‐pause period. The proposed PWM scheme can achieve equalization of loss and temperature. © 2023 Institute of Electrical Engineer of Japan and Wiley Periodicals LLC.
