Abstract
The focus of this chapter is polymers with a carbon–carbon backbone chain. The polymers discussed consist primarily of vinyl monomers, CH

. The chapter also considers the family of styrene polymers, including polystyrene, copolymers or styrene with other vinyl monomers, polymer derivatives of styrene, and mixtures of polystyrene and styrene‐containing copolymers with elastomers. Many styrene derivatives have been synthesized but only a few are found to be of commercial importance.
