Abstract
SummaryThe paper describes the fruit architecture of three species of Trachyspermum in relation to its taxonomic significance. Emergences in the form of warty trichomes are plenty on the fruits of T. ammi and T. stictocarpum. The pericarp which varies in thickness can be differentiated into epicarp, mesocarp and endocarp. A chloren‐chymatous hypodermis is present in T. roxburghiamum. Epicarp and the endocarp show variation in number of layers in the different species. The mesocarp embeds in it the oil canals and the vascular bundles. These finer details of the pericarp can be used for a taxonomic delimitation at the specific level
