Abstract
The mismatches among 3D content acquisition, display, and perception configurations can result in geometric distortion, which is a potential factor affecting the symptom of VIMS. 3D videos simulating two mismatch types and the reference matched situation were customized for the perception experiment. The subjective SSQ, five‐scale VIMS level rating and objective postural instability are adopted as the evaluation metrics. The results show that the factor matched type represented spatial distortion has a significant effect on the subjective VIMS level and objective postural instability metrics (p<0.05). The VIMS level and postural instability increments of the match type are significantly lower than that of mismatch types. Besides, indexes based on Elastic Potential Energy are proposed for the objective quantification of dynamic spatial distortions.
