Abstract
Recently, there is much interest in narrow graphene‐like nanoribbons in view of their exceptional electronic and magnetic properties. Of special interest are ultranarrow zigzag edge nanoribbons because they can have magnetic moments at the edges. Of course, it is also well known that if there are antidots (nanopores) in a system, its physical properties are strongly affected, too. In this letter, the comparative studies of graphene and phosphorene nanoribbons are presented, with emphasis on edge as well as antidot effects. It is shown that phosphorene has quite large magnetic moments on both external and internal zigzag edges and it is a half‐metal for certain electron concentrations. So phosphorene is a very attractive material for spintronic applications.
