Abstract
Objective: Whereas the Fit-India-Movement (FIM) is not a health program, per se, it attempts to meet the sustainable development goals of the World Health Organization for the control of non-communicable diseases by promoting health-related physical activity (PA) behavior in the Indian population under the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs. We aimed to find out how the government of India is operationalizing the PA guideline without a national PA plan. Methods: We reviewed the FIM website. Results: It contains the PA guidelines and recommendations for the Indian population. Conclusion: This article compiles our findings, revealing the paradigm for promoting PA in India. It describes what the FIM offers from a clinician’s perspective, utilizing resources at the individual level and an epidemiologist’s outlook for PA promotion.
