Abstract
Abstract
Describes graded bedding and current marks in microbrecciated limestones that are free of any terrigenous material. These microbreccias have been deposited on the flanks of geosynclines. It is thus shown that the existence of turbidity currents is independent of the nature of the material transported, as should be expected. From a stratigraphic point of view, the interpretation of these microbreccias requires great caution. They are monogenic, rather than polygenic. Examples are cited from the Senonian (Cretaceous) limestones of the Ionian trough (Greece).
