Abstract
Fever is commonly observed during the postoperative period. it may indicate a serious life-threatening infection or may be caused by less serious infections or various noninfectious conditions. Evaluation of the febrile postoperative patients include o review of the patient's medical record and meticulous physical examination which will lead the surgeon to the appropriate ordering of specific tests for that patient. The origin of the fever is not always clear and its evaluation should be done in a stepwise and logical fashion and requires experienced clinical judgment.
