Abstract

Subject. This article discusses the issues of development of horticulture and food security of Russia. Objectives. The article aims to develop a system of measures to reduce Russia's dependence on imports of agricultural products. Methods. For the study, we used statistical and logical analyses. Results. The article identifies the primary causes and barriers hindering the development of horticulture, and proposes a system of measures to overcome them effectively. Conclusions. In general, Russia has achieved self-sufficiency in the food staples. The establishing of perennial fruit plantations and the construction of storage and processing facilities for fruits and berries will help reduce Russia's dependence on imports of agricultural products.
