Abstract
Subject. This article analyzes the commercial potential of the cross-border regions of Russia.
Objectives. The article aims to analyze the prospects for the participation of various regions of Russia in international trade.
Methods. For the study, I used synthesis, analysis, and generalization.
Results. The article finds that in terms of export structure, the Russian regions are characterized either by the predominance of raw material industries or industries that produce low value-added products mainly, and in relation to the cross-border regions, this trend is strongly pronounced.
Conclusions. The implementation of State measures aimed at stimulating export diversification in cross-border regions is cost-consuming, and it will require vast resources.
