Abstract
Subject. This article examines the impact of the existence of financial goals on the financial behavior of Russian citizens.
Objectives. The article aims to find the relationship between the existence of financial goals and financial behavior of people.
Methods. For the study, we used analysis and synthesis, abstraction, generalization, induction, classification, as well as methods of statistical analysis of the results of an online questionnaire of 3,192 respondents with an equal gender composition of persons aged 18 to 65 years.
Results. The article finds that there are statistically significant differences in the financial behavior of respondents in the selected components depending on the existence and duration of financial goals. The article confirms the hypothesis that there is a connection between the financial goals and their horizon and people's financial behavior.
Conclusions and Relevance. The results obtained suggest the possibility of improving the financial models of Russian citizens by emphasizing the introduction of elements of financial goal-setting into their personal finance practices. To do this, we recommend that educational organizations focus financial literacy courses on skill development and the formation of financial planning and goal-setting habits, and that financial institutions include planning consultations in their customer service practices.
