Abstract

Subject. This article discusses the problems of employment, migration policy of Russia and spatial development of the country. Objectives. The article aims to analyze the processes of displacement of the urban and rural population of the Orel Oblast and the Central Federal District, as well as rank the regions of the Central Federal District by level of economic development. Methods. For the study, we used a statistical analysis. Results. Based on the analysis of the absolute indicators of migration of the urban and rural population of the region, the article determines the factors of population decline in the Orel Oblast and the direction of people's movement. Conclusions. State migration policy should be aimed at reducing interregional migration. This goal can be achieved by reducing the differentiation of regions according to the level of socio-economic development.
