Should cooperatives be the leaders of sustainability?

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the websites of the cooperatives in ISO 500 and to reveal their current status according to the social, economic and environmental dimensions of sustainability under the framework of sustainability. In this context, the certification status of the cooperatives in Corporate Social Responsibility, ISO 9001 Quality Management System, ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, ISO 27001 Information Security Management System, ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System, ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System, ISO 50001 Energy Management System were examined. In the research, the websites of seven cooperatives selected by purposive sampling method were scanned the descriptive scanning model. Percentage and frequency analyze were used. The correlation between the data was examined. As a result of the analyzes, it is seen that there is no significant relationship between the examined parameters within the scope of the concept of sustainability and the ISO 500 ranking of the cooperatives. In addition, all of the cooperatives have social responsibility projects and cooperatives 86% for quality (ISO 9001), 71% for environment (ISO 14001), occupational health and safety (ISO 45001) and food safety (ISO 22000), 29% for energy safety (ISO 50001) and 14% of them have information security (ISO 27001) management systems have
