Distance learning technologies in teaching a foreign language: challenges and opportunities

Abstract

The proposed study is devoted to the problem of teacher education: organizing the process of learning a foreign language in high school given the challenges of modernity, which, undoubtedly, should include not only global trends of education in General, but also challenging the second semester of the academic year 2019 / 2020, in particular related to the organization of education during coronavirus pandemic. Coronavirus was a unique challenge that revealed the potential of existing technical capabilities in the form of various online resources and online platforms, as well as the pedagogical possibilities of using distance learning technologies in different countries, universities, faculties, and departments. Of course, the teacher's pedagogical skills played an important role here. The purpose of the work is to describe the experience associated with the study in the feld of foreign language teaching by applying empirical research methods, analysis of the possibilities of responding to the challenges of our time, which is the novelty of the study. The results can be useful to theorists and practicing teachers as image/svg+xml an example of the various possibilities of teaching students a foreign language in our changing world.
