Abstract
The article deals with the phenomenon of professional identity as a problem of psychology and pedagogy. The author gives a definition of professional identity, based on the concepts of modern researchers: the theory and methodology of professional identity problems at different stages of development of domestic and foreign scholars. The methods of formation of professional identity, to determine its place in terms of professional development, defined levels of formation of professional identity of students in higher education, as well as effective ways of its formation. Described age-specific characteristics and personality of the student.
