Abstract
The small forces used in orthodontic treatment when applied to a tooth, teeth or dental arches, generate stress which affects bone not only adjacent to the tooth but bone remote from the site of application of force. A technique employing holography has been devised to study quantitatively and qualitatively the observed stress pattern.
