Abstract
Abstract:
Gout is a common form of inflammatory arthritis characterized by the deposition of
MSU in the joints and surrounding tissues, which results in inflammation and recurrent painful attacks.
Currently, xanthine oxidase inhibitors, i.e., Allopurinol and Febuxostat, are used in the therapy.
Recently, nanoparticles (NPs) containing metal oxides and non-metal oxides have also been
developed to better manage gout. This comprehensive review summarizes the pathophysiology of
gout, currently used drugs in the treatment, followed by emerging therapies for gout.
