Abstract
Abstract:
Chalcones(1, 3, diaryl-2-propen-1-ones) are prominent compounds and therefore, various
procedures have been worked out for their synthesis. This review highlights the synthesis and pharmacological
properties of chalcone derivatives. Chalcones are flavonoids that have been studied extensively
for their medicinal and biological properties. These chalcone derivatives have shown important
antimalarial, anticancer, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antituberculosis, anticonvulsant,
antileishmanial, and anti-HIV properties. The new structural classes of compounds may
prove to be lead molecules and good candidates for future investigations.
