Abstract
The paper describes the preparation for, and current practice of, daily intermittent, or ‘two-shift’, operation of large modern oil-fired 500 MW generating units by the South Western Region of the Central Electricity Generating Board at Fawley and Pembroke 2000 MW power stations.
