Abstract

Steam expanding within the nominal mixed phase (liquid-vapour) region invariably supersaturates whatever its initial condition. The use of the Zeuner equation γ = 1·035 + x1/10, based upon equilibrium expansion, is therefore invalid and should be discontinued.
