Abstract
This paper presents a genetic algorithm (GA) controller for the active vibration control of a centrifugal pendulum vibration absorber (CPVA). The genetic algorithm is applied to search for the optimal solution for the regulation of the anti-resonance frequency in an active pendulum vibration absorber (APVA), which is operated by suppressing vibration of the carrier. The dynamic model of the APVA is developed and simulated using MATLAB. The simulation results reveal that the GA controller can find the optimal variables when the excitation frequency varies, to determine an appropriate value for the torque of the active pendulum such that minimizes the amplitude of vibration of the carrier. After the GA process is complete, the search results are cumulatively stored in the knowledge base. The carrier vibration results obtained using the CPVA are compared with those obtained using the GA APVA. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed GA APVA in reducing carrier vibration.
