Abstract
A physical model for the outward diffusion of the intermittency through boundary-layer transition is presented. The resulting analytical solution is tested against experimental measurement with encouraging results. Unusually, this solution for a turbulent flow is obtained without the introduction of any empirical coefficients of the turbulence other than the starting origin to the solution and the value of the viscosity.
