Abstract
At a Norwegian hydro-electric power plant the pressure fluctuations generated by the turbine caused disturbing vibrations and noise in the pipeline. From both field and laboratory tests it was concluded that an energy-absorber in the pipeline would be the best remedy for the trouble. A resonator, on a principle similar to the Helmholz resonator, was designed and installed and proved to be very effective. There were, however, some practical maintenance problems which had to be overcome.
