Abstract
Research results in the area of ‘human reliability’ enable calculations to be made of the probability of human error, but also an acknowledgement of the ability of the human operator to recognize an unwanted process and to avoid it. Connectionism assessment of human reliability (CAHR) is a newly developed system that evaluates events, thereby making it possible to find conditions of cognitive error and develop strategies to reduce the probability of human error. It can be shown that aside from organizational measures, ergonomic improvements are of especially profound importance in the aim to optimize error management.
