Abstract

This paper presents a concurrent engineering (CE) approach to the authoring of technical documentation. This approach focuses on the development of a virtual environment (VE) for collaborative authoring that enables sharing and reuse of all available information sources during product and documentation development. The paper describes a VE for collaborative authoring using a product data management (PDM) system created to demonstrate the proposed approach.
