Abstract
This paper investigates the feasibility of microfoil bending based on electrical sparks, in which foils are formed by thermal stresses induced from the electrodischarge machine (EDM). Experiments are performed using 50 μm stainless steel of grade SU304. The bending angle of the specimen is controlled by the dimension of the electrode used in EDM bending. The specimen is formed in such a manner that the bending angle approaches the electrode profile. It has been found that this method can form multiple angles. The ability to form a complex profile is highly possible. This method is found to be feasible in forming an accurate bending angle.
