Abstract
Impedance, matrix quadratic models which arise from Lagrangian or Newtonian analysis are employed in the synthesis of controllers for lightly damped, series coupled mechanical systems having multiple outputs. Prescribed damping ratios and natural frequencies are generated by the closed-loop feedback scheme employing output measurements alone. The disturbance-rejection properties of the system are commented upon and a particular problem is presented for illustration purposes.
