Abstract

A microcomputer-based on-line vibration monitoring system has been developed in the School of Engineering and has now been successfully implemented at Cardiff Rod Mill. The justification for condition monitoring is presented and details are then given on the final system chosen, appropriate operational procedures and some unforeseen operational problem detections.
