Abstract
The thermodynamic method of pump testing is examined using the standard equation as a starting point, and realistic uncertainties are apportioned to each term in the equation to indicate the absolute degree of uncertainty required in differential temperature measurement for compatibility with current test codes. This illustrates the value of uncertainty associated with derived flowrate and the improvements in measurements required so that the uncertainty in both efficiency and flowrate fall within prescribed limits.
