Abstract
Recurrent types of problem in design lead to elegant solutions in which the operation of consistent design principles may often be traced. While some of these principles are given in the literature, many may not have been formally stated before. This paper lists those known to the author in a simple classified arrangement, and gives brief examples of their application and notes on their meaning and scope.
