Abstract
Abstract. Acute purulent-destructive diseases of the lungs and pleura still occupy a significant part of the total number of inflammatory diseases of the chest cavity and mediastinum. Ultrasound and CT scan of the pleural cavity is becoming more and more important in the diagnosis and treatment of purulent-destructive diseases of the lungs and pleura. The combined use of minimally invasive surgery methods, accelerating the elimination of the purulent process in the lungs and pleura, prevents the development of pneumosclerosis and fibrothorax, that is, the transition to a chronic course of the disease.
