Abstract
This paper first summarizes the important discussion about structured programming and its relevance to APL. It states that APL is not less structured than conventional languages, but only differently, and better.Next it discusses the line as a valuable structural concept which is unique for APL.The question is raised how a line should be split, and how we can decide which way of splitting is better than another one. Some criteria will be given to judge the quality of these alternatives.
