Bringing graphic dialogues to APL

Abstract

Most attempts to introduce graphic support into APL are limited to handling the composition and presentation of pictures. This paper proposes a model and a formalism encompassing also the other phases of a graphic dialog. The proposal involves a logical extension to structured programming, and is based largely upon already existing or hidden elements of the language. Even though its linguistic consequences are quite limited, the model opens up a new view on the implementation of an APL execution system.
