Abstract
Dr. Nicholas Negroponte, is the Wiesner Professor of Media
Technology at MIT and founding chairman of the MIT Media Lab. He is
also the chairman of the 2B1 Foundation and One Laptop per Child
(OLPC). My sister and colleague Ms. Gina Lee conducted a video
interview with Nicholas on December 19, 2005 at the Multimedia
Entertainment China conference in Beijing, China. In the video
interview, you will hear Nicholas' answers to the following
questions:1. How did you come up with the $100 laptop idea? 2. What
was the most challenging problem for the $100 laptop? 3. 20 years
ago in 1985, you created the MIT Media Lab. How do you see the MIT
Media Lab today and in the next 20 years? 4. 10 years ago in 1995,
you published The New York Times bestseller "Being Digital." Your
book offers insight on what "being digital" means for our future.
If you were to write a 2nd edition of your book today, what would
your new predictions be for our future? 5. You are the chairman of
the 2B1 Foundation and the One Laptop per Child nonprofit
organization. How do 2B1 and One Laptop per Child work hand in hand
to help the poor children?
