Abstract

Currently, there is a growing scientific interest in the condition of the soft tissues surrounding dental implants and their impact on the long-term prognosis of implant treatment. Known risk factors for the development of peri-implantitis include deficiency or complete absence of attached keratinized gum in the implant area. Various grafts are used to form a peri-implant “buffer” zone. When planning orthopedic structures on implants, the participation of a doctor – a dental surgeon and an orthopedist – is important. However, there is still no consensus on the required volume of keratinized gum around dental implants.
