Abstract
The decision to mark World Allergy Day was made in 2005 at the initiative of the World Allergy Organization. The purpose of the holiday is to inform the general population about the symptoms of allergic manifestations and promote regular examinations and checkups. A third of the adult population of the Russian Federation and a quarter of children and adolescents periodically suffer from manifestations caused by allergies. This disease is an immunopathological reaction of the body to the effects of any agent as a result of the development of sensitization to it. Currently, there is a trend towards a steady increase in the manifestations of allergic reactions, which scientists attribute to the increasing daily use of various preservation agents, chemicals, dyes, new drugs, and cosmetics. The main symptoms and manifestations of allergies include a runny nose, redness of the eyes, watery eyes, wheezing, bronchospasm, shortness of breath, various skin rashes, and sometimes a headache. One of the most dangerous manifestations of allergy is anaphylactic shock, which manifests itself in the form of itching, pronounced respiratory failure, excessive sweating, thready pulse, and a drop in blood pressure. If medical assistance is not provided in time, such a condition can be fatal.
