Abstract

Modern medicine has a huge range of antimicrobial drugs. There is a wide variety of antibiotics, which makes it possible to use them for the treatment of a number of diseases, both individually and in combination. However, such a wide variety of these drugs and their use leads to the fact that microorganisms lose their sensitivity to some of them, that is, they become resistant strains. This complicates the treatment of patients and contributes to the need to develop new drugs. Thus, the issue of the rational use of antibiotics and their correct prescription, taking into account all the pharmacological properties of the drug, is urgent. In this article, we will speak about such an antibiotic as fosfomycin, highlight its pros and cons, and clarify for which diseases it is used and why.
