Nurse manager as a generator of management decisions

Abstract

Management in health care is an essential component of the activities of the heads of medical organizations. Many managerial decisions are made «at the interface» between senior and mid-level medical personnel, therefore, the correct management of the nursing service at the level of senior nurses is becoming increasingly important. The purpose of the work: to determine the role and capabilities of the head nurse in the development, justification, and adoption of individual or group management decisions. Results. The conditions necessary for making managerial decisions are determined, the styles of managerial decision-making are characterized, the factors influencing the process of managerial decision-making are assessed, and possible mechanisms to motivate senior nurses for managerial decisions, professional development, and career growth are identified. Conclusion. Practice shows that all employees of the organization can equally possess managerial qualities, which, if developed, will allow forming a personnel base for the appointment of senior nurses.However, in order to begin the formation of such a base, it is first necessary to identify employees who have managerial characteristics.
