Abstract
One of the most important areas in modern forensic science remains the study of crimes against life and health. Among these, the most poorly studied are murders involving fire. According to the literature, a group of persons involved in this type of crime has significant features of the socio-criminalistic profile, motivation and intent of the crime. The materials of 337 criminal cases and the 71 acts of forensic medical research of corpses were analysed during the study. The socio-forensic profile of persons within the criminal group is more homogeneous than the “lone homicide” and “hired torches”. The profile of the latter has a great specialization. It is identified that: 1) in the age group of 15-18 years the number of tracks, their diversity is the greatest, while the order is low; 2) with age, the number of tracks, their diversity and the proportion of atypical tracks are decreased; 3) groups of 19-26 years are characterized by the greatest number of typical traces. The studied characteristics of the identity of homicide using fire will help operational staff to solve the tasks of crime identification, prevention and detection.
