Abstract
Scholars and researchers are aware of a serious dilemma relating to the pricing of journals and have focused their recent writings on disciplines with the highest journal pricing: science, medicine, and technology. John M. Budd examines trends in pricing and subscriptions of a selected group of social science journals, noting that while there is a trend toward higher prices and fewer subscribers, the dynamics of publishing in this broad field are complex and deserving of investigation.
