Abstract
This article critiques the Fathers of Confederation paradigm in Canadian history. Instead, it argues in favour of situating nation-building efforts in a broader trans-regional, transnational, and global perspective. It offers an example of a cross-regional approach: an enquiry-based learning module that compares resistance to Confederation in the Maritimes and Manitoba.
