1. Professor of History at Trent University. He is the author of The Upper Canada Trade, 1834-1872: A Study of the Buchanans Business (1979) and is currently preparing a book on the economic history of Upper Canada for the Ontario Historical Studies Series. Until recently he was editor of The Canadian Historical Review.
2. Professor of Economics and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at McMaster University. He is the author of Government Subsidies and the Construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway (1981) and The Emergence of Industrial America: Strategic Factors in American Economic Growth Since 1870 (1982), and is currently one of six principal investigators in a large, interdisciplinary research project dealing with the impacts of resource-based development on native peoples and the environment in northern Ontario.
