Abstract

This article describes challenges for education and research presented by the primary sources on the Pentekontaetia (479–431 bc), focusing on access to fragmentary literary texts in a digital environment for this much-studied period. It surveys the complex variety of sources relevant not only to interpreting the Pentekontaetia, but also to addressing urgent issues concerning digital preservation, representation, and access to open Greek and Latin sources.
