Abstract
Abstract
Due to the high computational cost of the annealing optimization procedure, the application of stochastic reconstruction techniques based on correlation functions is seriously affected. To improve the accuracy and computational efficiency of reconstructions, we propose a novel hierarchical simulated annealing of erosion (HSAE) method, whose computational efficiency can be improved by an order of magnitude. Our proposed method that provides a robust multi-scale framework to solve the upscaling or downscaling problem can add high-order statistics functions to further improve the accuracy of the reconstruction. In this letter, the HSAE method has been widely performed on different binary (two-phase) microstructures, and their reconstructions have significant improvements. But the realization of the proposed HSAE method still leaves a huge space for the improvements of accuracy and computational efficiency, which will be solved in the future research.
