Abstract

Abstract Further data from the Aspirin in Reducing Events in the Elderly (ASPREE) trial heightens the concern regarding aspirin use for colorectal cancer prevention in elderly subjects. A 95-variant colorectal cancer polygenic risk score (PRS) failed to identify a subset of elderly individuals who could have benefited from aspirin preventive activity. Further research to define predictive biomarkers of aspirin preventive activity is needed. Meanwhile, the use of aspirin for colorectal cancer prevention in the elderly becomes more questionable.
