Abstract
Using the example of Chelyabinsk, the article examines the features of the ethnicization of the space of the Ural city in the post-Soviet period, the emergence of the main objects associated with migration from Central Asia and the PRC. On materials of indepth interviews, press releases and archival documents, the problems of changing waves of migration and objects associated with it and designated as “migrant” are discussed.
