Abstract
Introduction. The increased interest of the modern scientifi c world in the issues of ensuring national and economic se-curity is associated with the aspect that the successful development and the very existence of a sovereign state is impossible without their provision. Currently, there is a lack in a unifi ed methodology for determining the level of economic security due to the fragmentation of the system of indicators. Moreover, such uncertainty is present at the regional level, therefore, it isimpossible to accurately determine it on a national scale, because the economic security of the state is based on the economic security of its regions. Methodology. The Central Federal District (CFD) of Russia was chosen as the object of the study. Materials for the study were taken from offi cial sources of the territorial body of the Federal State Statistics Service for the Moscow Region, the territorial body of the Federal State Statistics Service for the Vladimir Region, and the static collection of Kostromastat. Results. The results present an assessment of regions from different groups according to the development level of the district. It is based on groups of indicators from the fi nancial, socio-economic and manufacturing sectors. An analysis of the state of ecology in CFD regions was carried out in the context of individual indices and their ranking accord-ing to the achieved values was presented. The rating and the environmental-economic index showed leaders and outsiders among regions. Conclusions. On the basis of the conducted studies, the development level of individual regions was re-vealed, which differs signifi cantly. The lagging regions are Tver, Smolensk, Ivanovo and Kostroma regions. In ecological terms, the most deplorable situation is observed in the Moscow and Tula regions, and the best situation is in the Belgorod and Kursk regions. The main problems of the regions are demography and a high degree of depreciation of fi xed assets. In Moscow, the unemployment rate exceeds the national average by 3 times. The research can provide an objective assessment of the current state of economic security of CFD regions according to different areas of development of the district, and can serve as the basis for further practical research – the construction of predictive values of the studied indicators.
